Kim Adele Fuller

Painting of a wooden beach hut by Kim Adele FullerLiving on the Sussex coast, Kim is inspired by the ever-changing nature of the sea and the sky that surrounds her.

She particularly enjoys the dramatic, yet transient affects of light on both natural and man-made structures.

Kim works primarily in watercolour as she feels it has a translucency and vibrancy hard to match in any other medium.

Her paintings are built from layered atmospheric webs of colour and texture to capture the Kim enjoys experimenting with different styles but favours strong, bold contemporary works, some of which are uncharacteristically large for this traditional medium.

In addition to her original paintings, Kim’s work can also be enjoyed through limited edition giclee prints, canvases and cards.

Frans de Leij

Frans de LeijFrans de Leij was born in The Netherlands in 1959 where he studied Biology at the University of Wageningen. In 1986 he moved to England and now lives in Rustington on the West Sussex coast. In 1996 he began to paint in watercolour for pleasure, but soon found himself taking painting more and more seriously.

Over the past years his paintings have gained rapidly in popularity and can be found in private and corporate collections in Britain and abroad. In 2006 he was elected a member of the Sussex Watercolour Society.

"I began to paint in watercolour in 1996. Although I am entirely self-taught, I am a great admirer of the impressionist paintings of Trevor Chamberlain, Edward Seago, John Yardley and Nina Engle, whose paintings are realistic yet entirely ‘loose’ ".

“I have always been interested in nature. It is therefore not surprising that the English countryside and the sea inspire many of my paintings. In particular I am attracted by the way light, shade and atmospheric conditions unify objects within the landscape. Furthermore, I like the feeling of space and tranquility that are found in the natural world. The challenge for me as an artist, is to get these emotional qualities transmitted to paper, allowing them to be shared with others”.

Jane Denman

Pen and ink drawing of ballet dancers by Jane DenmanJane Denman works as an artist and tutor in West Sussex, her work is based on line drawings completed in ink pen.

Her current project focuses on drawing dancers whilst performing, challenging herself to capture the movement and speed of the dancer.

She will be exhibiting oil paintings, prints and cards.

Rachael Swift

Sculpture of a head by Rachael SwiftRachael Swift took up stone carving around 15 years ago, by attending workshops with late John Skelton (F.R.A.) at Streate Lane in Ditchling and has developed own style independently.

Rachael has sold at various exhibitions in Sussex, including Open Houses and had an especially successful Open House during Festival in Ditchling last year.

She says“.I believe in letting the stone communicate and often do not know what piece will be until I prepare it for carving and then it comes out!”

Stephen Danks

Painting of a bi-plane doing aerobatics by Stephen DanksI originally trained in Bath in sculpture and screen printing before discovering a preference for painting.

My grounding in screen printing has led me to paint with a love for vibrant, solid colour. I work in acrylics as I enjoy the fluidity and effects.

Although I have always been able to paint any subject, I have a passion for aircraft. This stems from a long-running shared family enthusiasm.

I have recently returned to painting after some time and I am very pleased and excited to be able to be part of the upcoming Adur Festival.
